Megan Fox’s Plastic Surgery and the Problem with Partial Truths

Posted on April 4, 2024December 14, 2025 by Hannah Harden

“Transformers” actress Megan Fox recently went on the Call Her Daddy podcast, making celebrity plastic surgery a hot topic in the media again.

Many viewers reacted to this podcast episode, pointing out that while Fox did discuss some procedures she had undergone, it was quite obvious she was hesitant to address others.

To an untrained eye, some of the changes in her appearance may be hard to spot. However, many doctors and subject matter experts (SMEs) have taken to social media to share their personal insight on Fox’s transformation.

Dr. Gary Linkov posted a YouTube video titled “Megan Fox: My Plastic Surgery Story | Plastic Surgeon Reacts” where he watched Fox’s podcast episode on Call Her Daddy and shared his professional insight as a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon in New York City.

In his YouTube video, Dr. Linkov stated, “So that’s some of the issue that I sometimes have with celebrities and you know just in general, that people are more willing to admit certain things but not others.”

He continued, “And for some reason when it comes to the face people get really extra personal about that. They don’t want to discuss every facial plastics procedure that they had but they might say ‘Oh I got breast augmentation,’ or ‘I got a tummy tuck,’ or something like that. Somehow elsewhere on the body it seems a little less personal than on the face. So that’s like partial truth. That’s not the full truth if you’re only admitting to a few procedures.”

This strategy of using partial truths to hide the whole truth is common amongst celebrities in Hollywood. Oftentimes, they will admit to one procedure but completely skim over others that they had done.

Some other celebrities who are notorious for lying about their plastic surgeries include:

  • Kylie Jenner
  • Kim Kardashian
  • Ariana Grande
  • Bella Hadid

Understanding the Cause and Effect

It’s important to remember that celebrities are still people at the end of the day and experience the same range of human emotions that we do. They just have a larger platform, wider sphere of influence, and bigger audience that watches their every move.

In addition, most celebrities are required to invest in their outward appearance to stay relevant and maintain successful careers. This is due to the fact that their image plays a huge role in their ability to effectively market themselves in the media.

Because of this, celebrities often experience way more pressure to look perfect than normal people do. To put this into perspective, the average person usually doesn’t have to worry about the attractiveness of their face and body being scrutinzed every day at work. However, for celebrities this is a a common consequence that comes from living their lives in the spotlight.

With so many eyes on them, celebrities may feel the need to hide or even lie about their plastic surgery procedures. While this may be understandable, it is still inexcusable, irresponsible, and harmful to the many people that are deeply influenced by them.

Their misleading behavior supports unrealistic beauty standards that can severely impact young, impressionable girls and boys who have not fully developed their self-confidence, sense of self, or an understanding of their own bodies. This leads to young children and teens developing body image issues that are influenced by unrealistic expectations set by dishonest celebrities and not reality.

Furthermore, when celebrities are misleading about how they obtained their physique, it creates a perpetual shame cycle amongst themselves and society as a whole. People aspire to look like them but they often look at themselves and aren’t even satisfied with what they see in the mirror or their camera roll. It’s a brutal and relentless loop that keeps everyone miserable and discontent with themselves.

The Solution

It would be better for celebs to say nothing at all rather than to blatantly lie about their plastic surgeries. While this is true, it’s honestly unlikely to happen unless there is a great wave of transformation that sweeps over Hollywood and the world at large.

Rather than waiting for celebrities to be honest, you should take control of what you can and eliminate outside influences that are negatively harming your relationship with yourself and your body.

For starters, take a break from social media and spend more time out in the real world. Being surrounded by normal people is eye-opening because it quickly reminds you what real bodies look like in comparison to the heavily curated and over-edited images that constantly fill your social media feed. People watching is a great way to recalibrate your brain’s perception of “normal” and help you get back in touch with reality.

It’s not uncommon for people to find themselves deeply stuck in a warped perception of their physical appearance. According to Psychology Today, an estimated 70% of people all around the world express dissatisfaction with their body. If you’re part of that percentage, know that you’re not alone. However, if you find that you’re severely struggling with your body image, it can be helpful to seek out therapy or counseling.
